Mental Prep

September 10, 2009

Today was a day of prayer and fasting for me. I skipped breakfast and lunch. My points will be low today for that reason.

My oldest and youngest sons have practice tonight at 4:30 and will have practice each Thursday now until the spring. Thursdays will need to be an early dinner night for our family. I’m going to need to prepare well for Thursdays. I’m the type of person that needs to plan ahead in order to be successful. If I didn’t plan ahead we would be eating out every night.

For dinner tonight I grabbed an old Hamburger Helper box that has been in my pantry forever. It was a huge 6 points for a one cup serving but it was fast.

I also served a 2 point side salad with dinner that had:

  • Romain lettuce,
  • carrot slices,
  • tomato wedges,
  • grated cheese
  • and a little ranch dressing

My hubby and middle son are walking to the store together as I type this. They are going to rent a movie for the three of us to watch tonight and they are also picking up some snacks. I told them to pick me up something small. I suggested a sorbet but Hubby thought it would melt on the walk. We will have to see what they get me but I’m mentally preparing myself right now to eat in moderation whatever it is. I’m not going to eat a whole package of cookies!

My Daily Points Target = 32
Total points spent = 14
Breakfast: = 0 points
Lunch: = 0 points
Dinner: 1cup Hamburger Helper potatoes stroganoff and a side salad = 8pts.
snack: butterfingers crisp bar = 6pts.

See you tomorrow!

A Shiny Gold Star Day

September 9, 2009

9-9-09_breakfastThis pictures doesn’t look very appetizing but it didn’t taste too bad. I don’t want to gross anyone out with too many details so let’s just say I’ve been having some pains lately and my diet would benefit from some more fiber. Super Seed by Garden of Life was recommended to me and I’m trying it out. So far I really like it. It has a nice cinnamon flavor. You can add it to anything. Today for breakfast I added it to a cup of yogurt. 5 points is a great way to start off my day.

I have a class tonight at 5 p.m. and I need to make dinner for the family early. I’m trying to plan ahead so that I don’t end up going through drive-through at the last minute. I also have a bunch of tomatoes I need to use up soon before they go bad.

9-9-09_dinner Tomato and Cheese Pizza

Six Inch flour tortilla

Non-fat cooking spray

1 tsp. Garlic powder

1/4 cup grated cheese

1 tomato, sliced

dried basil

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Place the tortilla on a baking sheet and spray with non-fat cooking spray. Sprinkle with the garlic powder then arrange the tomatoes evenly around the tortilla. Sprinkle with cheese and a dash of dried basil. Bake until the cheese just melts, 6 to 8 minutes. 7 pts.

Surprisingly this was a hit with my family. The kid’s usually hate anything with this much tomato in it but I got rave reviews tonight.

gold-star And here is my shiny gold star reward I promised myself yesterday for having an on-program day. Good job me! Tomorrow if I stay within my point range and I journal and blog what I eat then I will reward myself with something glittery. I need the extra motivation right now. Starting over is tough.

Getting Started….again

September 9, 2009

I have nothing great to report. I’ve continued my downward spiral this week. Ugh! I’m so disappointed in myself. The hardest part for me in loosing weight is always the getting started part and I’ve slacked off so much lately I really need to begin again. The one good difference between now and 3 months ago is that I am down 20lbs.! I get to begin with 20lbs. gone already.

OK, OK I can do this. One step at a time. Let’s take it easy, nice and easy steps. Let’s make a goal for tomorrow. I will be on plan tomorrow. No eating out, no junk food. I’ll journal and blog my meals. If I do this I will give myself a shiny gold star!
